Bris v Wells City

Goalkeeper George Dorrington saved a 52nd minute penalty that turned the de in a
       stu ering Brislington performance.
Lee Perks men travelled to last seasons losing play off side Wells City, for league game
number 22 on a very cold Tuesday night.
Perks was s ll missing Lewis Dunn, Danny Barwood, George Jones, Ben Withey, Lewis
Ewins, Jack Allward & Harry Tobin. However he was able to welcome back Ash Kington
a er 15 months out, Dean Griffiths and Jordan Scadding who had both served one match
suspensions in the previous game, a 4-0 victory over local rivals Bristol Telephones. That
game saw the foxes finish up with four exci ng talents from the Brislington U18’s none of
whom looked out of place. Youngsters Charlie Ames and Josh Lewis joined the squad for
       this encounter.
Wells who are s ll in all of the cup compe ons had played 3 games less than their visitors,
were si ng in 9th spot and have been struggling to hit last seasons league form which saw
them si ng top for part of the season, and this display suggests that they will likely be
there or thereabouts come the end of the campaign this term.
It was the hosts who started best, ge ng the ball into the back of the net in the first two
minutes, however the linesman came to the Foxes rescue adjudging Peck’s header offside.
The home side looked sharp and enthusias c as they set about pressuring the visitors
hard. The foxes who were finding the bobbly pitch difficult to navigate, were too easily
relinquishing possession giving City more confidence. However hard Brislington had
worked to regain possession, it was negated by the poor, hurried, distribu on which
served only to set up another home a ack. One such turnover forced Jordan Williams into
a foul on the edge of Brislington’s 18 yard box. The resul ng free kick required Dorrington
to pull off a drama c save, flying to the top corner of his near post to deny Sen
The Foxes were however working hard, trying to find a foothold in the game, and some
feisty challenges were making the game if not a li le scrappy certainly compe ve.

Oaklan Buck had the best of the early half chances for the visitors cu ng in from the right,
but it was against the run of play that Brislington took the lead. Scadding’s forceful run was
brought to an abrupt end inside the box, incredibly the home side appealed for leniency
but to no avail. Jordan Ricke s stepped up to finish his spot kick taking his seasons goal
       tally to 11.
The 1st half was more a war of a ri on, with the home side asking more ques ons without
really crea ng any clear cut chances, and the away side looking defensively solid but short
of quality going forward, which is surprising given the Foxes being the leagues top scorers,
although the home side do boast the best defensive home record with the excep on of
       league leaders Por shead.

Half Time: Wells City 0 Brislington 1
The second half started with more of the same, although Wells a acks looked to have
more teeth as they came out firing all guns blazing, crea ng two early chances and a string
