Zone to be One of the Drivers of the Black
Industrialists Programme in KwaZulu-Natal
To achieve economic participation, freedom and independence for
the majority, viable ventures should be developed and every thought
should be put into action to realize the desired outcomes.
The nomination of Richards Bay Industrial Development Zone to
spearhead the Black Industrialists Programme forms the basis
of the determination to ensure that it becomes a catalyst for
radical economic transformation and inclusive economic growth.
Importantly, few months ago, captains of industry, heads of states,
economists, financial institutions, policy makers and representatives
of government entities attended the World Economic Forum on Africa.
All delegates agreed that driving inclusive economic growth should be
everybody’s responsibility.
It is for these reasons that entrepreneurs and ordinary members
of society are excited that RBIDZ has been nominated to be one of
the pioneers of Black Industrialists Programme together with the
MEC Sihle Zikalala signing the MoU for BIP Dube TradePort. The urgency of this programme was demonstrated
in KZN with the dti Minister, Dr Rob Davies
through the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between

INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT INCLINED FOR
ECONOMIC PROSPERITY
Techno-parks by their nature are drivers of technological innovation,
instigators of job creation and advancement of economic opportunities.
The Techno-park within the RBIDZ is aimed to be a regional hub
for innovation and attract collaboration from various networks of
enterprises, tertiary and research institutions. It is a known factor
that well utilised Techno-parks can be a source of global knowledge,
innovation driver, development and commercialisation of technology
resulting in job creation and enhanced quality of life.
Elevating positive prospects and thriving to close distant technology
access, the Richards Bay Industrial Development Zone’s Techno-park
is complete with its striking stature and is already drawing curiosity
from various stakeholders who have good intentions to start utilising it.
The facility will provide the intensely sought-after innovation
and global knowledge to the King Cetshwayo District and the
KwaZulu-Natal Province at large.
Recalling the inception of the project, months have certainly passed
by and the state of the art Techno-park administration building on the
ground is evidence of the project well executed and RBIDZs’ optimism
to bring about change to the District and the Province.
