I collected the Dawn from Berkley Square at about 5pm. The frst thing I did was fnd the button to drop the roof, and I was off. My wife was waiting with our friend Dominic at the Groucho Club in Soho so that was my frst stop. As I swung into Dean street the frst parking bay on the left was free, maybe this is all part of the service? I thought it wise to put the roof back up as I went into the Groucho. We were soon back in the car, top down through the streets of London. The frst thing we noticed was the attention, we are very used to driving around in Ferraris or Lamborghini’s, but this was a very different level of attention and not all of it so good. The Rolls seemed to evoke a feeling of capitalism or one up-man-ship in the eyes of some, and anytime we were stationary we became a magnet for beggars asking for change. Once clear of the West End we turned left onto the A40 and headed out over the Marylebone Flyover, roof still down, as we slowed in traffc we decided, much to my wife’s relief to put the top up, as she was in the back and we didn’t have the diffuser on. Roof up and clear of the traffc the Dawn really started to show her heritage, despite the soft top there was very little noise of any kind. The sumptuous leather and deep pile carpets soothed you into a luxurious world whilst wafting along the M40 en route to pick up Dom’s wife in Thame. As we settled into the motorway run I had time to take stock of my surroundings, the interior of the Dawn is very simple, no complicated displays everything was just enough. Simple, effcient, stylish and luxurious. A mix of traditional, almost 12
