Driver Romain Grosjean 8Driver Kevin Magnussen 20HAAS, owned by Gene Haas, got off to a good start in 2016 as the newest team on the grid by fnishing in 8th position. They originally intended to make their debut in 2015 but hads to postpone until the following season, which seems to have been a smart move.Based in North Carolina they have a second forward base in Banbury Oxfordshire for the purpose of turning cars around during the European part of the calendar.They are the frst american constructor to submit a Formula One entry after the failed US F1 project in 2010.Following the collapse of Marussia F1 during the 2014 season and the auctioning off of their assets, HAAS purchased the teams Banbury Headquarters to serve as a European base for their operations.Grosjean and Magnussen did 992 laps in the frst week of testing and they put in some impressive lap times. No longer the new kids on the block, but they do need to get further up the feld than they where in their frst rookie season.167
