We are committed to working with parents to
ensure our students grow independently and
become resilient young people, ready to face the
future, as the best versions of themselves.
Junior Cycle (3 Years)
Coláiste Nua offers a broad range of subject choice for Junior Cycle. Literacy and Numeracy are clearly
integrated into the teaching of all subject areas. Wellbeing is written into students' timetables for
their three years of junior cycle, in the same way as traditional subjects such as English, Irish and
Maths. Wellbeing brings together three familiar areas of learning - Physical Education (PE),
Social, Personal and Health Education (SPHE), Civic, Social and Political Education (CPSE) together with
the fourth pillar being Guidance/Counselling ensuring through a supportive, whole-school approach the
wellbeing and welfare of all.
Taster subjects are
offered to all students
in advance of a decision
being made.
Great care and support
is offered to all
students and parents in
advance of final subject
selection.
Students will study ten
subjects for their Junior
Cycle.
