With the cream of the farming community present, numerous awards were the order of the day. The Valley Macadamias Group awarded farmers delivering to each of their factories in Sabie and in Alkmaar.
The Alkmaar Valley Macadamias winners were Philip van Rooyen for the highest volume of nuts delivered; Gerhard Kunneke for the highest Sound Kernel Recovery (SKR) for the Integrefolia varieties; and father and son team, Jacques and Henry van der Walt, were awarded for the highest SKR Beaumont variety.
Sabie Valley Macadamias winners were Alan Sutton for the highest volume of nuts delivered; Deon van Heerden for the highest SKR for the Integrefolia varieties; and Rusty Mare for the highest SKR Beaumont variety.
The big winners of the evening were Kobus Pieters – Valley Macadamias Young Farmer of the Year; Arthur Kerslake – Most Improved Farmer of the Year; Bill Bales-Smith – Farmer of the Year and Natie van Staden who received the Loyalty Award.
