NCCP Transition to New Model is Complete
Transition from the old (Level 1, 2, 3) National Coaching Certiication Program to the new NCCP (Instruction and Competition) is complete.
Karate Canada’s Competition Development certiication program was oficially approved in May at the Coaching Association of Canada Partners’ Congress. Transfer of qualiications
has started and should
now be applied within your transcripts.
If you are a coach with Level 1, 2, or 3 Theory, Technical, or Practical components, you will now notice that you have been given credit for the equivalent program in the Instruction or Competition coaching streams.
These have been identiied as “Transferred” on your transcript. Your Levels-NCCP credentials are still valid and recognized in the sport community. They will not expire or be removed from your transcript.

Meanwhile, the NCCP Committee members
met last July in Toronto to review the material for the Instruction Beginner context. Updated manuals should
be available by the 2017 National Championships.
A new Operations Manual will be available for PSOs by the end of September including guidelines and information on the program as a whole.
Do not hesitate to contact your PSO to hold an Instruction Beginner or
Competition Introduction workshop or contact Karate Canada’s Program Manager alexandra.roy@aratecanada.org to organize a Competition Development Karate speciic workshop for your coaches.
Para-Karate (previously AWAD)
The Athlete With a Disability (AWAD) will now be referred to as Para-Karate athlete in order to align ourselves with the World Karate Federation and the International Paralympic & Olympic Committees.
Three para-athletes from the Senior National Team will be attending the Senior World Karate Championships in Linz, Austria next October.
Simon Langlois-Gauthier (QC), Natalie Olson (AB), and Patricia Wright (ON) will be part of the Canadian delegation and coached by Mrs. Heather Fidyk, Para-karate Committee Chair and National Coach, awith assistance from National Team Coaches Denis Beaudoin and Katarina Vadovicova.
