Eighty-eight athletes and ive national team coaches, in kata and kumite, took part
in the largest ever annual Karate Canada Junior National Training Camp.
This three-day camp, held mid- July, ended with the selection of the Karate Canada National Team that will compete in the 2016 Cadet and Junior Pan American Championships to be held in Guayaquil, Ecuador, in August.
The Camp was co-led
by National Team
Head Coaches Katarina Vadovicova (Kata) and Denis Beaudoin (Junior Kumite), with the help of Assistant National Team Coaches Karen Armour (Junior Kumite), David Strohbach (Junior Kumite) and Pam Ross (Junior Kata).
Assisting were ive volunteer referees - Babak Sotoudeh, Tammy Hennessy, Kiran Kainth, Farshid Hosseinirad and Mahmud Majlesi.
Highlights of the Camp included an educational presentation on mental preparation by sport psychology expert Patrick
Béland; a physical testing segment for kumite athletes; as well as a surprise visit from Senior Kumite Head Coach Nassim Varasteh.
