How do you
the overnight ferry service?
Is the developer upgrading or reducing the service?
Jonathan and DreamChasers interviewed many residents. The vast majority of those interviewed object to the replacement of the overnight ferry service. Most of them think that the proposed overnight bus service cannot entirely replace the overnight ferry service.
On 24 October last year, the City Owners’ Committee passed the resolution to replace the overnight ferry service with an overnight bus service. Do DB residents agree with this change?
Some DBers point out, traveling between the town area (like Central) and DB by bus is a very long journey and time-consuming. Many DBers work in Central and nearby areas who need to take the ferry during early hours of the morning. Replacing the overnight ferry service will bring much inconvenience.
Some residents point out buses’ smaller capacity, reduced comfort and lack of toilet facilities. DBers are used to traveling to town by ferry and oppose to the proposed change.
Other residents emphasize that the overnight ferry service is part of the overall services they believe they signed up for when they purchased their properties in DB. The ferry company cannot just replace the service without the majority owners’ consent.
Some DBers recommend that HKRI can keep the overnight ferry service, and at the same time introduce an overnight bus service, thus improving the overall transport system of DB. That will satisfy the needs of most residents.
