Assessment
Drawing on the theoretical backgrounds, readings, workshop contents and experience, students will create a collage that represent your aspirations and strengths in health-related experiences:
• A collage is a visual representation made from an assembly of different materials and sources creating a new form of artwork. A collage may
include newspaper clippings, photographs, ribbons, stamps, personal items, hand-made papers (such as paper crane) and so on, glued to a canvas or solid structure. Visual thinking and visualization of ideas is important in the process of making this collage. Some ideas cannot simply be captured in words and this is where collages come into play.
• Research further the purposes and examples of a collage for a better understanding for this assessment.
• Building on your understandings of what a collage is for, you will then brainstorm (e.g. sketch your collage) and determine the materials and
design your collage. Your collage will need to ‘tell a story’ about your aspirations and strengths in health-related experiences. • Use these ideas and/or those from the suggested readings to guide your design:
o Cultural wealth: aspirational, navigational, social, linguistic, familial and resistant capital.
