Grant Payments
Approvals of grant applications over the past few years have been complicated by COVID-19 with many applications
deferred for one or more years. Consequently, the Board approved grant applications at both the September 2021
and the February 2022 Board meetings resulting in payment of $63,546 for grants in FY2022. Unspent grant funds
from FY2021 had been rolled over into the FY2022 budget. Grant applications approved by the Board for FY2022
are listed in the table below.

Audit FY2021
The annual audit conducted for FY2021 confirmed income of $160,393 for the year and expenses of $125,914
resulting in a net profit of $34,479. It must be kept in mind that FY2021 was extraordinary due to COVID-19.
Scheduled induction ceremonies and dinners were cancelled. Decisions on some grant applications were deferred.
Capital & Budget
At the end of March 2022, capital funds of Section VIII totalled $420,486 for assets held in a society cheque account
and two term deposits. The equivalent of one year’s expenditure (approximately $150,000) is held in reserve.
The FY2022 budget was approved by the Board when the Board met on 6 March 2021. The Board also examined
5-year budget projections to ensure the Section can continue to support dentally related humanitarian programs
led by our Fellows well into the future. The level of support our Section dedicates to these programs is only made
possible by the generous donations our Fellows include with their annual renewal payments. Thank you!
