NJCAA BASEBALL AWARDS

Baseball – Division I
NJCAA Division I Baseball World Series Awards

1. Awards shall be presented to the first and second place teams.
2. Each individual player on the first-place team shall receive an NJCAA gold medal. There shall be 37 medals.
3. Each individual player on the second-place team shall receive an NJCAA silver medal. There shall be 37 medals.
4. Preston Walker Memorial Most Valuable Player Award shall be presented. Award recipient shall receive a plaque. Award
to be ordered by tournament host.
5. Robert Purkey, Jr. Memorial Outstanding Pitcher Award shall be presented. Award to be ordered by tournament host.
6. Jay Tolman Memorial Best Defensive Player Award shall be presented. Award to be ordered by tournament host.
7. Homa Thomas Sportsmanship Award shall be presented. Award to be ordered by tournament host.
8. Coach of the Tournament Award shall be presented.
9. Selection of a 12-player All-Tournament Team shall be made. Each player on the All-Tournament Team shall be
presented a medal. Awards to be ordered by tournament host. The Most Valuable Player is not part of the All-Tournament
Team.
10. Eight team participation plaques shall be sponsored by the Grand Junction Tournament Committee (Medalcraft Mint, Inc.).
11. Tournament “shoulder patches” shall be given to all tournament participants.
NJCAA Baseball Coaches Association Awards
1. Ten (10) NJCAA Division I Baseball District Coach of the Year Awards.
2. NJCAA Division I Baseball Coach of the Year Award.

*Awards to be ordered by the NJCAA National Office and billed to the Coaches Association.
Special NJCAA Awards
1. NJCAA/American Baseball Coaches Association Division I Player of the Year. Award shall be selected by the NJCAA
Division I Baseball Committee during the All-American selection process.
2. NJCAA/American Baseball Coaches Association Division I Defensive Player of the Year. Award shall be selected by the
NJCAA Division I Baseball Committee during the All-American selection process.
3. NJCAA/American Baseball Coaches Association Division I Pitcher of the Year. Award shall be selected by the NJCAA
Division I Baseball Committee during the All-American selection process.
4. American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings Gold Glove Awards. Award recipients shall be selected by the NJCAA
Division I Baseball Committee for each of the nine positions from All-Region Gold Glove Teams and/or Defensive Player
of the Year nominations.
*The NJCAA National Office shall notify the ABCA of the award recipients.

NJCAA Division II Baseball World Series Awards
1. Awards shall be presented to the first and second place teams.

4. Most Valuable Player Award shall be presented. Award recipient shall receive a plaque.
5. Pitcher of the Tournament shall be presented.
6. Coach of the Tournament Award shall be presented.
7. Selection of a 12-player All-Tournament Team shall be made. Each player on the All-Tournament Team shall be
presented a medal. The Most Valuable Player is not part of the All-Tournament Team.
