On February 9, 2015, Tyler and I attended Algonquin College for the presentations from each of the groups. They presented to us privately, while the Professor was also in the room to grade their presentation.
Each group presented their plan with full design boards and binders which included their concept statement, design proposal, floor plan, rendered floor plan, perspective drawings, product guide, budget breakdowns, paint calculations, references, manufacturer specification sheets and if the expertise was within the group, conceptual drawings.
We could not believe what we were seeing! Each presentation had some fantastic and very unique ideas and then...there it was, the design we had been waiting for! Discussing it later, we both agreed that one design in particular had blown us away.
Tyler and I run a golf complex; we don’t design restaurants, pro shops and bars but we do manage and utilize them. One group in particular had envisioned some- thing for our clubhouse that worked very well and it was exactly what we had been looking for. That was the winning design that we selected.
THE WINNING DESIGN
At the beginning of May 2015, we implemented Stage 1 of the winning plan. The total cost was $3,200. Step 1 involved installing an 8’ high x 30’ long wall between our open concept pro shop and lounge eating area. The pro shop counter was moved from the front door wall and reconfigured to now face the door so when you walk in, an employee is facing and greeting you; which provides much better hospitality.
