At our 25th Anniversary Gala Dinner on November 19th during our annual conference, Mark will be presented with the NGCOA Canada Lifetime Achievement Award and there is no one more deserving than Mark. This recognition bestowed on Mark is one of the more deserving recognitions in the Canadian golf industry.
Although Mark was the man with the vision, there was a group of leaders in the Ottawa area that shared Mark’s passion to help all golf course operators across Canada flourish and become more profitable. They are the founding members of the NGCOA Canada, who were recognized at 2003 Golf Business Canada Conference & Trade Show (photo above) and we would like to take this opportunity to thank them for their leadership :
Bill and Geneviève Brown, former owners of Mont Cascades Golf Club Frank Chiarelli, Riverbend Golf & Country Club
Don and Ernie Ferne, Manderley on the Green
Rick Fleming, Calabogie and Pakenham Highlands Golf Courses Clayton McCredie (deceased 1996), Norway Bay Golf Club
Gib Patterson, Emerald Links Golf & Country Club,
Anderson Golf & Country Clubs, and Cloverdale Links Golf Course
Tom Welch, Metcalfe Golf Club
Over the past 25 years, hundreds of men and women have helped shape the NGCOA Canada by serving on the past and present chapter and national board of directors. There are too many to name, however their leadership and dedication to the betterment of the business of golf in Canada is commendable.
We have two year board terms, however many of these volunteers have served for much longer than the minimum requirement, a testament to their passion for this industry.
We are a ‘governance from the bottom- up’ type of organization so each chapter advisory board president represents their region at the NGCOA Canada board table. These individuals may have spent four, six or eight years on the chapter advisory board, became president of the chapter, then spent another two years representing their region at the national table – all while running their own business. If that’s not passion, we don’t know what is.
To all of our past and present chapter advisory board members, we tip our hat and say THANK YOU for your hours of volunteerism and dedication. Whether you were helping develop programming or were locked up in a meeting room for a few days developing policies as the association grew, you have always been there and willing to go the extra mile. We could not have accomplished the growth and success of the past 25 years without every one of you so today we say THANK YOU.
