In July 2017, the current NGCOA Canada Board of Directors, with their significant others, enjoyed an evening reception after a full day of meetings in Ottawa.
We would like to present our current NGCOA Canada Board of Directors. This amazing group of volunteers sets aside any thought of ‘what’s in it for me’ when tackling any issue and always approach decisions with this motto: ‘what’s in the long term best interest of all golf courses in Canada.’ They are brilliant, they are selfless, and today we say THANK YOU for your dedication and leadership.
There are a few individuals who require a little more attention. These are the presidents who have held the gavel at the highest level – the NGCOA Canada Board. Their commitment to the original vision has never wavered however each one of them brought innovation to their position as the association evolved.
Steven Spratt, owner of Falcon Ridge and Raceview Golf Courses in Ottawa, ON, is our current president. Steve was elected on November 16, 2016 and we will be sad to see him step down in November 2018. Steve has been a member of the NGCOA Canada since 1998 serving for many years on both the chapter and NGCOA Canada boards.
Our past president, Gilles Debut is the owner of Les Quatre Domaines in Mirabel, Quebec and served as president from November 2014 to November 2016. Gilles has been a dedicated member since 1998 and has also served many years as a board member on both chapter and national boards.
Reto Steiner is known as a visionary in the Canadian golf industry. Owner of the Woodside Golf Course in Airdrie, AB, Reto served as president from November 2012 to November 2014. He has been a member of the NGCOA Canada since 1995.
Don MacKay is passionate about everything he takes on and that was apparent during his presidency from November 2010 to November 2012. Don is the owner of Muskoka Highlands Golf Links, has been part of the NGCOA Canada since 1996 and remains a very active member in the association.
Neil Kapp served as president from November 2008 to November 2010. Neil approached all decisions with grace and professionalism. He is one of the partners of East Park Golf Gardens, Westminster Trails and Maple Ridge Golf Clubs in the London, ON region and has been a member of the association since 1999.
Bill Brown led with authority and a consensus building attitude from November 2006 to November 2008. He also represented Canada for many years on the NGCOA US board. Former owner
