The Dream Junior Golf Academy at Collicutt Siding
Building a successful program at any golf course these days is a difficult task, but we have mastered the art of growing a junior introduction to the game.
FAMILY FRIENDLY
Our Junior Academy has been growing steadily since we started it nine years ago. In 2009, we had 56 kids, thanks to our team members Jason, Laura and Shelby who worked hard to promote the program.
By 2013, we had nearly 600 participants. In 2016 we had 1,080 kids, from Calgary to as far north as Red Deer, learning to play golf in our classes. That’s correct. It is not a misprint ... 1,080 kids!
We wanted to create an affordable, family friendly program to in- troduce kids to golf from ages 4 to 14. We started with cut down adult clubs, using a few driving range stalls on Monday evenings.
We now offer families the choice of six different one-hour ses- sions on Monday or Wednesday evenings in order to accommodate
the demand and to fit any family’s schedule. Every year the academy purchases several U.S. Kids clubs because they are much lighter and easier for the children to handle.
Kids that display exceptional promise and appear to be “coach- able” are invited to the “advanced” class on a different day that pro- vides more one-on-one instruction opportunities.
