Pujya Gurudev:
The Voice-Box of Swami Tapovan Maharaj

The message carried on our front cover was written
by Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda on the first
copy of the first Yagna Prasad at the first jnana yajna in
Pune, dated January 1, 1952. This first copy was sent
by him to Swami Tapovan Maharaj. It is clear that he
had emptied himself completely to receive the precious
knowledge imparted by his Guru. “Thy knowledge
broadcasted through Thy own voice-box – Chinmaya.”
Pujya Gurudev dedicated his entire life to the dissemi-
nation of this supreme knowledge that had come to
                  him through the Guru-parampara.
This particular copy of the first Yagna Prasad was
preserved carefully by Swami Tapovan Maharaj in his
kutia in Uttarkashi. Pujya Gurudev had never entered
Swami Tapovanji’s room in Uttarkasi in his Guru’s life-
time. All the meetings and the teaching took place in
the verandah of Tapovan Kutir. After the mahasamadhi
of Swami Tapovan Maharaj, when Pujya Gurudev went
to Uttarkashi next, he entered the inner room, and this
copy of the Yagna Prasad was among the few things he
                  found there.
Swamini Kaivalyananda, in her indefatiguable search
for documents and photographs of Pujya Gurudev and
Swami Tapovan Maharaj, found this copy of the Yagna
Prasad in the possession of Smt. Geeta Verma, sister of
Thangam Varrier of Arya Vaidya Pharmacy, in
Coimbatore. At some point in time, Pujya Gurudev had
handed it over to her. We are grateful to her for part-
ing with it so that it can be preserved in Chinmaya
                  Archives at Sandeepany Sadhanalaya, Mumbai.
May each one of us, to the best of our ability, en-
deavour to become the voice-box of Pujya Gurudev
                  Swami Chinmayananda. Hari Om!
