2020 in Review
2021 will be the year professional services take a front seat in the practice of Pharmacy.
We have seen many changes throughout 2020 which have paved the way for this. A few of these expanded scope activities, such as administering vaccine injections to > 2 years of age etc, were already in motion prior to the pandemic. The arrival of COVID-19 expedited other transitions, such as amendments to the CDSA and introduction of COVID testing. In both cases, Pharmacists adapted to and thrived in these changing environments. Expansion will continue in 2021 as we get ready for rapid COVID testing, minor ailments and the COVID-19 vaccine. You and your teams rose to the challenge in 2020 and are perfectly poised to deliver on continued and advanced professional services in 2021.
As you plan for 2021, we invite you to assess the provision of Medication reviews to your patients in 2020. This is an integral base service which should be offered to every eligible patient. At least once a year, pharmacists should be reviewing and optimizing patients' medication regimens, the benefits to the patient are too great to miss. With the ability to provide the service virtually, we are now able to reach a larger number of patients. So that we can successfully incorporate expanded scope into everyday practice, our renewed focus on providing consistent Medication reviews is essential.
Please review the graph and tables below of overall BU Medication Review offering. For 2020, the average number of MedsCheck provided for a store per week is 5.
