PERSONAL LIFE OF FREDDIE MERCURY
In the early ' 70s, Freddy had a long relationship with Mary Austin. 7 years
later, Freddie mercury confessed to his bisexual orientation, which was the
end of their affair, however, until the end of life, they remained close friends.
Mary was for Freddy part of his family - it was she who, during the difficult
struggle of the singer with the disease, told his parents the news of mourning.
In 1985, Freddy began a relationship with hairdresser Jim Hutton,
which continued until his death. Hutton courted mercury during the
last days of his life, and then wrote a book called «Mercury and me».
ILLNESS AND DEATH
In 1986, the first rumors about his disease by the immunodeficiency virus appeared. Members
of the group stubbornly denied them, but the day before his death mercury made an official
statement that he had AIDS. Terminally ill mercury continued to perform for five years.
On November 24, 1991, Freddy died of bronchopneumonia caused by HIV infection. The body
of the singer was cremated, and about the location of the ashes knows only Mary Austin and his
family – that was mercury's desire. Later, fans found this place-London cemetery Kensal Green.
