PART 2: CONTEXT AND SPECIFIC TEACHING SITUATION Centre profile
The Primary school object of this teaching programme is a bilingual state school located in a wealthy middle-upper class neighbourhood in an urban area. Parents are interested in their children’s education and there are no mayor behaviour problems.
There are two groups by course and the students benefit from modern and comfortable facilities as well as resources. English is the only foreign language taught at the school and most families are aware of the importance of learning English in the present social, academic and professional contexts. All this results in highly motivated students with an interest in English as a means for progress and international communication.
The Educational Aims of the School Project include:
1. To promote a global education concerning the developing of all the students’ personal
skills and intelligences.
2. To promote the democratic and human values development in collaboration with the
families.
3. To foster an integrative education, establishing the necessary conditions to attend to the
diversity of students.
4. To encourage a cordial atmosphere and dialogue among parents, students and the
school staff, favouring participation.
5. To develop rules of coexistence based on four aspects: respect, tolerance, solidarity
and cooperation.
6. To encourage students to improve their communicative competence in English as a
foreign language through the whole compulsory schooling.
7. To develop a pleasure for reading in the children, following the Reading Promotion Plan.
