of 4 feet to a flat surface.
There was no doubt from the time the ball left the putter. Warren Lewis Morris had achieved the most
coveted honor of the PPA, the first person to shoot a perfect 18. With many congratulations and lots of
head shaking of disbelief and wonderment - the scores were posted. Players returned to finish their
round after witnessing history. Round 2. Morris aced the first two holes, then missed. The record of
17 straight aces by Wayne Anderson of Ft Worth, TX had been broken with 20 straight aces.
Interestingly, Morris never felt nervous until he finished round 2 with a 29. Then he started thinking
about how to win the tournament. Mike Pfeiffer was in second place, but still several strokes behind.
Morris shot a third round of 31 to finish the tournament with a 78. Pfeiffer finished two strokes back.
It was a memorable night for a memorable man. Warren Morris died in 1992 near his family farm in
Oak Park, GA. The “Southern Gentleman” was 58.
