Rick Baird works as an IT manager and oversees network and computing issues. He’s been a member
of the PPA since 1971 and won the PPA National Championship in 2007 and inducted into the PPA
Hall of Fame in 2013. Remarkably, his game was in such sad shape at one point in his career, he
considered quitting the sport to avoid embarrassment. However, Baird worked through his adversity to
become one of the winningest players in PPA history.
On Friday, April 8, in Richmond, VA, a collection of professional and amateur putters gathered to
practice for the next day’s Virginia State tournament at Gary and Patsy Hinshaw’s beautiful Putt-Putt
