Abstract Abstract
ITDO presented the Unveiling Ceremony of “PolyU-Huawei PolyU and China Aerospace International Holdings Ltd.
Joint Laboratory for Optical Interconnection Network and (CASIL), a public-listed subsidiary of China Aerospace Science
Advanced Computing System” at PolyU. This was the first and Technology Corporation (CASC), reached a strategic
joint laboratory of high-capacity optical communications collaborative research framework agreement to advance
and advanced computing systems in Hong Kong, fostering aerospace engineering. The collaboration aims to establish
PolyU’s continuous partnership with Huawei Technologies a mutually beneficial platform to address the extensive
Co. Ltd. (Huawei). technical needs of the aerospace engineering of China by
leveraging PolyU’s strengths in innovations and technology.
The plaque unveiling ceremony was officiated by Ir Professor
Alex Wai, Vice President (Research Development), PolyU and By forging closer ties between PolyU’s research and China
Mr. Jun Zha, President, Central Research Institute of Huawei. aerospace engineering, focusing on robotics, intelligent
systems and sustainable energy, the collaboration is expected
Through the Joint Lab, PolyU and Huawei will work on to result in high-impact and high-value aerospace engineering
researches relating to high-capacity optical communication applications, as well as marketable aerospace products. A
systems including long-haul and short-reach data center joint laboratory on intelligent systems will be established to
transmission systems, computer networks and systems, and
big data computing. pioneer research in robotic design and control, energy-saving
and cost-efficient vibration control, intelligent systems or
structures for control, measurement, sensing and health
monitoring etc. in the aerospace field.
The collaborative research framework agreement also
encompasses professional exchanges, visiting program,
taught courses, distinguished lectures, funding support and
all kinds of collaborative research in both Chinese Mainland
and Hong Kong.
