Throughout this book, the term will be used in contradistinction to ‘speculator.’ As
far back as 1934, in our textbook Security Analysis, we attempted a precise
formulation of the difference between the two, as follows: “An investment
operation is one which, upon thorough analysis promises safety of principal and an
adequate return. Operations not meeting these requirements are speculative.”
Ask yourself this: According to the aforementioned definition, are you an investor
or a speculator?
I personally think you would be much better served by understanding your money
personality; there are nine of them. Here at Matrix Wealth Management, LLC, we
use a proprietary process called the Money Max Profile that was developed by Dr.
Kathleen Guerney. When we talk our clients through this approach, they are quite
often surprised by who they really are when it comes to money and the decisions
that accompany their way of handling it. In my opinion, everyone should know his
or her money personality.
And, by the way, you can take less risk and achieve more reward; you just need to
be educated how to do so…
