It is no exaggeration to say that American popular music conquered the world in
the 20th century. The list is impressive – ragtime, blues, jazz, rhythm & blues, rock
& roll, hip-hop & rap. All these forms of music have swept across the globe.
2.5 Sports
There is a reason for this. Two of the most popular games in the country are played
almost nowhere else – baseball and American football. Both share common roots
with the more international British games of cricket, rugby and soccer. U.S has
well-known sportsmen like Michael Jordan.
2.6 Food
American cuisine has been influenced by Europeans and Native Americans in its
early history. Today, there are a number of foods that are commonly identified as
American, such as hamburgers, hot dogs, potato chips, macaroni and cheese, and
meat loaf. "As American as apple pie" has come to mean something that is
authentically American.
Fast food, along with Coca-Cola, are often viewed as being symbols of American
dominance and influence. Companies such as Starbucks, McDonalds, , KFC,
among others have numerous outlets around the world.
