THE ERECTION OF THE TAB NACLE
In the center foreground is Moses, and behind him is Aaron in the vestments of a high priest. Two priests stand at the left, about to place the bread on the Table of Showbreads. To the right of Aaron is the Altar of Incense, and in front of that the Ark of the Covenant.
The Tabernacle was a portable church before which
the Israelites performed their acts of worship. It was le made in such a way that taking it apart was an easy matter, for the Tabernacle had to be carried from place to place by th Israelites during their sojourn
in the desert.
