passed through  ve golden rings on each board. The boards rested in silver sockets.
Four coverings formed the roof. These coverings extended down over the sides. An inside covering of embroidered linen draped the walls. The outer cover­ ings were of goats' hair, and rams' skins dyed red and violet.
At the entrance to the Tabernacle there were  ve pillars of acacia wood, overlaid with gold, with golden capitals. These pillars were set in sockets of brass. They supported an embroidered linen curtain, which acted as the door of the Tabernacle. Thirty feet be­ yond this, were four other similar pillars, from whi  hung another curtain to separate the Holy of Holies, as the room where the Ark rested was called, from the other part of the Tabernacle, called the Sanctuary, or
fhaCourl Holy Place.

In the Sanctuary were kept tl a Altar of Incense, the Table of Showbreads and the Seven-branched Candle­ stick. Here the priests performed their sacred func­ tions.
The Tabernacle was erected at the west end of a long enclosure known as the Court of the Tabernacle, one hundred and  fty feet long by seventy- ve feet wide. It was fenced in by e roidered linen curtains supported on brass pillars, with a rich curtain at the entrance. The Altar of Holocausts stood inside the entrance, and between it and the Tabernacle was the Brazen Laver, at which the priests puri ed themselves.
