On the fteenth day of the seventh month began the Feast of Tabernacles, which lasted for seven days. It was celebrated in thanksgiving for the fruit harvest, and in memory of their dwelling in tents during their wanderings in the wilderness. During these days more numerous sacri ces were o ered than during any other feast. On the rst and last day of this feast
servile work was forbidden.
