Achab and Josaphat, the king of Juda, undertook another campaign against the king of Syria. Four hundred false prophets said the campaign would be a victory for Achab. Micheas, the prophet of the true God, foretold a defeat for Achab and Josaphat, for which prophecy he was cast into prison. The cam paign was undertaken. Achab disguised himself be fore going into battle, but he was shot by a chance arrow. When Achab's chariot was being washed in
the pool of Samaria, dogs licked up his blood as they had licked the blood of Naboth in that spot, and the prophet's word was ful lled.
Joram, the son of Achab and Jezabel, became king after the death of his father. But his reign was short. He was slain in battle by an arrow from the bow of Jelm, who then became king of Israel.
Jehu was entering the city of Jezrahel on his return from battle, when Jezabel, having painted her face and adorned her hair, looked out the window and called to him, ''Can there be peace for the murderer of the
king?"
Jehu said, "Who is thisf" When they told him it
was Jezabel, he commanded them to throw her out of the window. They did so, and the hoofs of the horses trod upon her.
Later on, Jehu said, "Go and bury that cursed woman. After all, she is the king's daughter."
But when they went to get the body and bury it, they found that the dogs had eaten her up. When Jehu
