ELIAS Is BORNE TO HEAV IN A FIERY CHARIOT
before I shall be taken from thee.'' Eliseus begged for the spirit of Elias. Elias promised it in these words, "If thou seest me when I am taken away, thou wilt receive what thou askest.''
As they were walking along and talking to each other, a ery chariot and ery horses parted them, and Elias went up by a whirlwind into Heaven. Eliseus saw him and cried, "My father, my father," and he saw him no more. He took up the mantle of Elias which had fallen upon him, and with it he divided the
waters as Elias had done.
