THE REDEEMER AMONG MEN 345
Him all that day. Their names were John and Andrew.
Now, Andrew had a brother named Simon. He went Pe  to look for him, and when he found him, he said, "We have found the Messias.'' And he took him to Jesus. When Jesus saw Simon, He said, ''Thou art Simon; thou shalt be called Cephas.'' Cephas is the Aramaic word for Peter, a rock.
On the following day, Jesus went into Galilee and Phifip there met a young man named Philip. He said to him, I ''Follow Me.'' Shortly after this, Philip met his friend, Nathanael, and told him that he had found the Messias, Who was Jesus of Nazareth. Nathanael asked, '' Can anything good come from Nazareth 1 '' for
that city was held in contempt by the rest of the provinces. Philip answered, ''Come and see.'' When Jesus saw Nathanael coming to Him, He said, "Behold
an Israelite indeed in whom there is no guile.'' Na­ thanael said to Him, ''How dost Thou know me1'' Jesus answered, ''Before Philip called thee, when thou
wast under the  g tree, I saw thee." Nathanael an­ swered Him and said, "Master, Thou art the Son of
God; Thou art the King of Israel.''
From that time, Jesus began to preach to the people James and to say, ''Do penance, for the Kingdom of Heaven
is at hand.'' Soon great crowds were following Him wherever He went. Many of the people believed in Him and tried to live according to His teachings. On
day, when He was walking by the Sea of Galilee, He saw the two brothers, Simon and Andrew, casting a net into the sea, for they were  shermen. He said to them,
