Then Jesus continued, "Imagine you had a friend, and you went to him at midnight and said to him, 'Friend, lend me three loaves. Because a friend of mine has come o his journey to me and I have not anything to set before him.' Then you would hear the voice of your friend from inside the house, saying, 'Trouble me not. The door is now shut; my children are in bed. I cannot rise and give anything to thee.'
''Yet, if you continued knocking, I say to you that although he would not rise to give it to you because he was your friend, yet because you would not go away, he would rise and give you as much as you needed.
''Therefore, I say to you, Ask and it shall be given you, seek and you shall nd,· knock and it shall be opened to you. For everyone that asketh, receiveth, and he that seeketh, ndeth. And to him that knock eth, it shall be opened to him. hat man is there among you, of whom if his son shall ask bread, will he reach him a stone 1 Or if he shall ask him a sh, will he reach him a serpent 1 If you, then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father Who is in Heaven give good things to them that ask Him1"
