"Then the rich man said, 'Father Abraham, I be seech thee to send Lazarus to my father's house, for I have ve brothers, that he may warn them lest they also come into this place of torment.' Abraham said to him, 'They have Moses and the prophets. Let them l1ear them.' But the rich man said, 'No, Father Abraham, but if one went to them from the dead, they will do penance.' But Abraham said to him, 'If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they believe if one rise again from the dead.' ''
2. JESUS REBUKES THE PHARISEES
Jesus loved the poor. He was kind to the publicans, .ns and merciful to sinners. But there was one class of hy sy people for whom He had no sympathy. These were
the Pharisees. ''Woe to you Pharisees,'' He said, "because you love the rst seats in the synagogue and the salutations of the people in the market place. Woe to you, because you are like to whited sepulchers, which outwardly appear to men beautiful, but inside are full of dead men's bones, and of all lthiness. So you also outwardly indeed appear to men just, but inwardly you are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.''
