foe that held them in bondage. If He had not ed away after He fed the multitude in the desert, the people would have taken Him by force and made Him king.
When He told them in the synagogue at Capharnaum that He would give them His esh to eat and His blood to drink, their hopes were at an end. They understood at last that He did not intend to establish an earthly kingdom. Their disappointment was very great. Their love for Him had been sel sh. They had followed after Him because they thought He would bring them earthly prosperity. Now their love began to turn into hatred.
