rested and brought before the high priest on a charge of blasphemy. They knew that if they did so, there would be a riot among the faithful followers of Jesus, who, seeing the many miracles that He had wrought, could not believe that He was a sinner. Our Savior Himself had said, "If you do not believe My word, believe My works.''
Our Lord said to the Pharisees, ''Which of you sha convict Me of sin? If I say the truth to you, why do you not believe Me? He that is of God heareth the words of God. Therefore you hear them not, because you are not of God.''
The Pharisees answered, "Do we not say well that Thou art a Samaritan and hast a devil?" Jesus an swered, "I have not a devil, but I honor My Father,
and you have dishonored Me. But I seek not y own glory. There is One That seeketh and judgeth. Amen, amen, I say to you, if any man keep y word, he shall not see death forever.''
Then the Pharisees said, ''Now we know that thou hast a devil. Abraham is dead, and the prophets, and Thou sayest, 'If any man keep fy word, he shall not aste death forever.' Art Thou greater than our fa- · ther Abraham, who is dead, and the prophets? What dost Thou make Thyself?''
