power to harm Him. He also foretold that He should
die, not in Galilee, but in Jerusalem.
N oll The agents of the chief priests and Pharisees dogged :nds the footsteps of our blessed Savior, watching for an our Lord opportunity to arrest Him. Yet even they were deeply
impressed by His teaching . and His holy life. The chief priests and Pharisees sent for them and said, "Why have you not brought Him1" They answered, ''Never did a man speak like this man.'' The Phari sees said, ''Are you also seduced1 Do any of the chief priests believe in Him, or the Pharisees1 It is only the common people, who know not the law, that follow after Him.'' Then it was that Nicodemus, who was a member of the Sanhedrin, spoke up. Ever since the night at he had come to esus to ask Him about the Kingdom of Heaven, he had been a disciple of our blessed Savior, but in secret. Now he said, "Doth our law judge any man unless it rst hear him and know what he doth1'' ''Art thou a Galilean1'' they an swered; ''search the Scriptures and see that out of

Hi U ting agamst Him, but His hour had not yet come. He had work to do before the day on which He should su er and die. Therefore He remained outside of the city and hid Himself in the little town of Ephrem, which is about sixteen miles northeast of Jerusalem. From Ephrem He went also to other small towns and was a frequent visitor at the home of His friends at Bethania.
