MARY MAGDALEN ANOINTS THE HEAD OF JESUS
Six days before the Feast of the Pasch, Jesus and Palm His apostles came to Bethania. There a supper was Sunday made for them; and Martha served and Lazarus was among those who sat at table. Mary took a pound of ointment of great price and poured it on the head of Jesus, and anointed His feet and wiped them with her
hair. The house was lled with the odor of the oint­ ment.
Seeing this, Judas Iscariot, one of His apostles, be­ came very indignant and said, ''To what purpose is this waste1 For this might have been sold for more than three hundred pence, and the money given to the poor."
