490 CHRIST REDEEMS THE WORLD

Jesus then began to talk to His apostles. "Little children," He said, "yet a little while I am with you. You shall seek Me when I am gone. But whither I go, you cannot come. A new commandment I give unto you: That you love one another, as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this shall all men know that you are My disciples, if you have love one for another.
'' This night all of you shall be scandalized in Me, for it is written, 'I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep of the ock shall be dispersed.' But after I shall be risen again, I will go before you into Galilee.''
Turning to Simon Peter, Jesus said, '' Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have thee, that he may sift thee as wheat. But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not; and thou, being once converted, con­ rm thy breth n.''
Peter said to Him, "Lord, whither goest ThouT" Jesus answered, ''Whither I go, thou canst not follow Me now. But thou shalt follow hereafter.'' Peter said, "Why cannot I follow Thee now? I will lay down my life for Thee. I am ready to go with Thee both into prison and to death. Although all shall be scandalized in Thee, I will never be scandalized.''
Jesus answered him, "Wilt thou lay down thy life for Me 1 Amen, amen, I say to thee, this night, before the cock shall crow, thou shalt deny Me thrice."
