492 CHRIST REDEEMS THE WORLD
Whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring all things to your mind what­ soever I shall have said to you. Peace I leave with you, My peace I give unto you; not as the world giveth peace, do I give unto you. Let not your heart be trou­ bled, nor let it be afraid.''
After they had arisen from the table and had sung a hymn, they left the Cenacle and went out of the city. They walked along the road that led through the valley Cedron. Crossing the bridge which spanned the Brook Cedron, they ascended the Mount of Olives.
As they went along, Jesus continued to speak to them. All around them were vineyards. The vines, in answer to the call of the spring, were beginning· to put forth their leaves. Jesus said, ''I am the vine; you the branches. Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abide in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me. In this is My Father glori ed, that you bring forth very much fruit. And this is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love than this no man hath, that a man lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do the things that I command you. You have not chosen Me, but I have chosen you, and have appointed you, that you should go, and should bring forth fruit, and your fruit should remain. And whatsoever you shall ask of the Father in My name, He will give it to you."
Now Jesus paused and, raising up His eyes to Heaven, He prayed: "Father, the hour is come, glorify Thy Son, that Thy Son may glorify Thee. Thou hast
