given Him power over all esh, that He may give eternal life to all whom Thou hast given Him. Now, this is eternal life: That they may know Thee, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, Whom Thou hast sent. I have glori ed Thee on earth; I have nished the work which Thou gavest Me to do. And now glorify Thou Me, 0 Father, with Thyself, with the glory which I had, before the world was, with Thee.''
They had now come to the Garden of Gethsemani, which was near the foot of Mount Olivet. Many a night Jesus had spent in this little garden. It was in
the midst of a grove of olive trees, and at one time there had been here an olive press, in which the olives
were crushed for the purpose of obtaining from them the oil, which was used for so many purposes in those days. The word Gethsemani means olive press. The place was quiet and secluded, and Jesu loved to go there and spend the night in prayer.
At the gate, Jesus invited Peter, James, and John to come with Him farther into the garden, and told the other eight to wait for them. As they went forward, Jesus said to the three apostles, "My soul is sorrowful even unto death. Stay here, and watch with Me. Pray, lest you enter into temptation.'' Then He went on alone, about a stone's throw, and, falling at on the ground, He prayed, "My Father, if it be possible, let this chalice pass from Me. Nevertheless, not as I will, but as Thou wilt.''
