Pew research also showed that about 1⁄4 of adults online use Twitter as of 2016. But most of those are younger adults, under age 30, around 36%. If your target audience is that age range, including those just graduated from medical school, this is a way to gain attention.
Unlike Facebook, Twitter requires messages be very succinct. There is a limit to the number of spaces and letters you can use per tweet (140 characters.) This means it is great for giving thanks or praise to someone who volunteered or partnered with you or gave a large donation. It is a great way to create new followers, and provide timely customer service. It can help you spread a new “hashtag” that gains attention to your agency name.
How to Share Facebook Posts on Twitter:
You may have noted that the Tweets of the President go viral, and it can be a good or bad thing for that to happen! Non-profits cannot afford bad publicity, so while there is a way to have all your Facebook posts automatically sent out as a Tweet on Twitter simultaneously, you may want to pick and choose what is shared on both.
You will need to connect your Facebook Page profile to your Twitter Account before doing any tweets or retweets! Directions how to do that, and how to permit all posts from Facebook to be retweeted, are here: https://help.twitter.com/en/managing-your-account/link-twitter-to-facebook
