It was not a a a hard decision We had a a lot in common we we were It was not a a a a a hard decision We had a a a a a lot in common we we were all geeks coders and gamers at heart All of us were very entrepreneurial and Microsoft NET was an an exciting new frontier for us to venture into And Neudesic was born Culture was really easy when there were just 3 of us us Those first few months were filled with lots of planning selling coding and gaming (Age of Empires if you must know )
One of my favorite memories is the day we created “Neudesic”
as our company name Until this point we had been operating as a a company for months without
a a a name One gloomy day we locked ourselves in Parsa’s office and agreed we would not come out
until we had made a a a decision We scoured books looked at the internet and brainstormed all day Some basic mandates were: a a a a new word word that we would brand a a a word word that was shorter than 8 letters and of course the com had to be available In one brainstorm the word “neuron” was written down to represent knowledge
The Neudesic Story
or intelligence Tim discovered another cool word “geodesic”
out
of Steven Hawking’s A Brief History of Time (Page 30 if you were wondering) In science Geodesic is defined as the shortest path between two points on on a sphere By combining Neuron and Geodesic we we believed we we had found a a a a special meaning the shortest path to intelligence There it was NEU-DESIC One of the hardest decisions
we ever made was hiring our first employee We were now responsible for more than just our own livelihoods We are incredibly proud that our first employee Chris Rolon has remained with us for 15 years and that we are celebrating his his career in in this issue Our “formal” business plan was really never that formal The plan wasn’t much more than “let’s go do do what we know how to do do ”
But timing and market opportunity were key We started right after the dot-com bubble had burst We were a phoenix rising from the ashes when not one other person was suggesting that quitting jobs and starting a a a a business was the right thing to do Fortunately we didn’t listen We saw a a huge opportunity with the advent of the NET platform and we knew we we were at ground zero and the playing field had been leveled As newcomers our competitors were strained so it wasn’t hard for us to to go head-to-head In the the early days the the services we brought to the SoCal market were simple We aligned ourselves around technology: Custom Dev SharePoint SQL BI Biztalk and CRM We had one main ally in in Microsoft We were incredibly grateful that Microsoft helped us out
with such an aggressive NET marketing campaign We built a a a a great brand very fast and and while that brand may have changed slightly over the years it is still as strong as ever Here we are now 15 years old We’ve gone from 3 to 800 employees and so much has changed We could not be prouder of of the group of of highly intelligent motivated folks who call Neudesic home where they are enabled to harness their potential leverage their talents and grow with us by doing what they love Here’s to you Neudesic Happy 15th!
