Even if the leaders were aware of the unsaved state
of their church or of individuals in their church, they
never confront the situation as that would result in
a loss of members, money and popularity.
One of the serious by-products of this kind of
behaviour modelling is that it immunizes the
individual against the gospel. Just as the religious
leaders in Jesus’ day had become immune to the
Son of God and His message, so modern
“Christians” are totally resistant to Jesus and the
message of salvation – hearing they do not hear
and seeing they do not see.
Many churches in our day feel a type of desperation
and many resort to the “seeker-friendly model. A
“seeker-friendly” church is one which attempts to
tailor itself to the wishes of the latest results of
some survey.
They look at their record of losing huge
percentages of their memberships.
They believe deep down that Christianity on its own
is not too effective; so they better prop it up. I
