Sporting Life
Sporting life in Sri Lanka is a significant part of the Sri Lankan culture. Though Volleyball is the national
sport, Cricket is the most popular - drawing world recognition after Sri Lanka brought home the 1996
World Cup. Blessed with many striking cricketers, Sri Lanka never fails to produce more aspiring
talent. Cricket is one thing carried in the hearts of all Sri Lankans which transcends any form of
difference.
School level cricket is also extremely popular and celebrated in most parts of the country where
schools battle it out in big matches with their main rivals to bring glory to their alma mater. Streets are
garnished with different school flags and colours during the big match season.
