Prevention Research Institute Summer Conference
JEKYLL ISLAND—Each year, the Prevention Research Institute (PRI) hosts a summer and fall
conference in Georgia. Both conferences serve as a means for DUI Risk Reduction Program Owners,
Directors, and Instructors to obtain the continuing education credit hours they need in order to
maintain their certification through DDS. The conferences feature a number of breakout sessions
pertinent to risk reduction and substance abuse treatment, including sessions specific to DDS
Annual Updates and strategies for maintaining program compliance.
PRI hosted this year’s Summer Conference at Jekyll Island on June 14th and 15th. DDS was well
represented by members of TEAM Reg, including Kecia Bivins, Division Director; Tommy Grant,
Deputy Division Director; Juenesse Holman, Program Administration Manager; Tunnizia Weston,
Field Operations Manager; Scott Morrison, Compliance Analyst; Michael Ishola, Operations Analyst;
and Mike Mitchell, Governmental Affairs and Communications Director.
PRI is responsible for developing the 20-hour risk reduction curriculum in Georgia, publishing the
program workbooks, and training new instructors. Georgia drivers convicted of driving under the
influence must successfully complete a DDS certified 20-hour DUI Risk Reduction course as one of
the conditions for getting their Georgia driver’s license or Georgia driving privileges reinstated.
Kecia Bivins, Division Director of
Regulatory Compliance, provides
an Annual Update on DDS
operations.
