Meet Lance Taylor

                                    …more than just a badge!

My name is Lance Taylor and I am the Deputy Director of the Office of Investigative Services. I have been with the
agency for nearly 15 years; starting when it was the Department of Motor Vehicle Safety. Prior to coming to DDS, I
worked at the Conyers Police Department where I served as a patrolman and a detective. Before deciding to pursue
a career in law enforcement, I worked at Bellsouth Advertising and Publishing Company (The Yellow Pages). I
attended the University of Tennessee at Martin (Martin, TN) where I earned a degree in Business Administration.

My duties as the Deputy Director of the Office of Investigative Services are varied. Our unit handles fraud, internal
affairs, and background investigations as well as employee fingerprinting and credentialing and public outreach. We
are also called on to handle many duties involving the overall safety of the DDS workplace such as safety training and
intervening in situations in progress. As a law enforcement unit, we also are required to adhere to Georgia Peace
Officer Standards and Training (POST) Council requirements for training and operations. Additionally, we recently
became a State of Georgia Certified Law Enforcement Agency, which also requires that we adhere to an additional
set of professional standards. My recent work accomplishments include contributions to the development and
implementation of a Field Training Program for newly hired investigators, an Active Shooter and Emergency
Preparedness Training Module for GA DDS employees, and serving as a Team Leader on the State Law Enforcement
Certification Project.

I am the father of three children and I have two grandchildren. When I’m not at work, I enjoy spending time with my
family, watching sporting events and funny movies. I recently got a new camera as a Christmas gift, so, I have also
started to become somewhat of an amateur photographer. I think I need more training in that department. I really
enjoy making people laugh and I use my humor as a coping mechanism to handle just about any situation. It helps
keep me positive. I am very proud of the DDS Team and the OIS Team and I feel honored to be a part of both.

If you ever need assistance from me or any of the OIS team, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We are here to
serve YOU.
