There are currently 880 active courts registered with GECPS out of 900-plus courts in Georgia. GECPS benefits courts
and their IT departments, law enforcement, vendors, and Georgia record holders by ensuring data is processed to the
records in a timely manner once received. Records must be free of GECPS errors to be processed. If GECPS errors are
generated, court personnel must correct the record(s) and resubmit the batch for processing. Courts are responsible
for submitting correct citation data to the appropriate record in a timely manner.
The recently updated GECPS website portal that Sharkiran boasted about is now a component of the Enterprise Login
System (ELS). ELS was implemented and deployed to production on September 11, 2017. The website now allows
court users to register and create their own court user account profiles, in addition to all GECPS information being
revamped (such as the reports, guides, quick links etc.)
In the future, as an agency and department, we hope to implement a web service for courts to submit directly to DDS
with real-time processing and feedback. Currently, we have the batch or file process where courts submit data through
their systems that was programmed by their vendor’s or IT departments using the GECPS implementation guide. We
have higher expectations for our department and know that there is no limit to what the system is capable of with
today’s technology.
Along with the Wonder Twins, DDS’ IT and Legal departments have been very instrumental in moving this upgrade in
the appropriate direction. Kudos to them for all their hard-work, guidance and support.
