CPS – Card Production Service Kick Off Meeting

Team CPS had a great kick-off meeting to get the Card Production Services project underway! So
far, the card design team has met to begin discussions on just what exactly the new driver’s license
will look like. A more secure material will likely be used for the card. It is polycarbonate and can
only be greyscale instead of full color! The vendor, Gemalto, says that the intertwined layers of
polycarbonate make it virtually impossible to swap document information or photos without
completely destroying the document. It's the same material used to make bulletproof glass and you
can hear the difference: polycarbonate driver's licenses are so rigid they sound like a compact disc
when dropped. Also, the customer photos will be taken in front of a white screen instead of our
current blue photo background. These are just a few of the changes instore for us as we create the
most secure and tamper proof licenses and IDs that our state has ever had!
