St. Pius
In 1861, St. Pius V Parish opened when the village of Cohocton was then known as Liberty. Father Michael Steger was the founding pastor, and Buffalo’s Bishop John Timon visited the church for the rst time in 1863. St. Pius’ original structure fell victim to re in 1918, but Bishop Hickey laid the cornerstone for a new structure that same year and the current church was erected quickly.
