St. Joseph the Worker Parish was founded in 2012 through the merger of St. Michael’s in Lyons, St. John’s in Clyde and St. Patrick’s in Savannah.
St. Michael’s
St. Michael’s was founded in 1848. Father Thomas O’Brien, founding pastor, at rst celebrated Masses at the homes of Lyons’ Catholics. In 1852 the parish purchased a church building, and Father Michael Walsh soon became St. Michael’s rst resident pastor. The parish later became a mission of St. John’s from 1859-76, when it again became an independent parish. In 1890 ground was broken for the current church, which was dedicated by Bishop Bernard J.
